Matt Hardman is a retired United States Navy Engineering Department Chief who lives in Southern Maryland. He holds a BA in Intelligence Studies from American Military University and is currently pursuing an MA in Writing at Johns Hopkins University.
When he was 8 years old, his dad gave him a copy of Tom Clancy’s The Hunt for Red October, a book which served as a kick-off point for where the first 20 years of his adult life would lead. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and spent the subsequent two decades doing just about everything an enlisted sailor can do. He served on a submarine, two aircraft carriers, two submarine tenders, two amphibious assault ships, and one destroyer and completed eight full deployments.
He is a husband and a father of six kids and his first professionally published short story, The Concert, appeared in Volume 12 of As You Were: The Military Review at www.militaryexperience.org.
